This position is for long-term Laboratory needs within the Software Applications Engineering Division, Database Management group for a MS SQL Server Database Administrator 3. The selected candidate for this position will join a team of SQL, Oracle, and DB2 DBAs and will support a diverse SQL environment. A skilled and experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator will work in the SAE-1 Data Management group supporting the activities of one or more of our internal customers. Responsibilities include:
Working with systems analysts and developers to design data models needed to meet application requirements
Developing and implementing data structures
Establishing and maintaining security and integrity controls
Defining and implementing operational support procedures including backup and recovery
Performing operational support which includes performance analysis and tuning
Formulating and monitoring policies, procedures and standards relating to database management
Proposing and implementing enhancements improve security, performance and reliability.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Strong technical experience as an SQL DBA; in-depth understanding and administration of MS SQL Server databases and related technologies
Demonstrated experience in providing database support for all phases of SQL Server-based development projects
Demonstrated experience in planning and designing database architecture for new systems
Demonstrated experience with problem diagnosis and resolution, including the use of Microsoft support
Demonstrated experience with performance monitoring and tuning
Demonstrated experience in patching and addressing security vulnerabilities
Demonstrated experience in development and use of standard operating procedures and best practices
Strong team and collaboration behaviors; professional, effective interpersonal communication skills
Experience with implementing and managing MS SQL Server 2005/2008/R2/+ databases in Windows 2003/2010 x32 and x64 Server OS environments
Experience with SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Transact-SQL programming
Experience with clustered database servers
Experience running SQL on virtual machines

A division within ADIT, the Software and Applications Engineering (SAE) Division provides software and applications development and support, database development and administration, software quality management, and enterprise application consulting.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.
