· Collect, compile, and analyze wildlife population and ecotoxicological data related to studies undertaken at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Duties would include completing a publication on relationships between environmental exposures to chemical and radionuclides and survival and reproduction of passerine birds using a site-wide avian nest box monitoring network based on a 17-year dataset.
· Assist with managing Los Alamos National Laboratory’s ongoing environmental surveillance program for chemicals and radionuclides in biota, foodstuffs, and soils. Duties would include preparing data quality objectives and planning sampling strategies for a variety of environmental media, managing sampling campaigns and personnel, managing and analyzing data, and preparing project and annual reports and publications. Relate results to regional background levels, ecological screening levels, ecological and human dose limits, and human health screening levels.
What You Need
Desired Skills:
· Knowledge of population and community biology
· Knowledge of ecotoxicological effects of organic and inorganic chemicals and radionuclides
· Knowledge of statistical analyses for research and monitoring data
· Design of monitoring studies, including development of data quality objectives
· Experience conducting and supervising field work
· Ability to work within a large bureaucratic institution
· Ability to work productively as part of a team with supervisors, peers, and direct reports
· Ability to prepare work products and reports in a timely fashion
· Ability to write clearly and concisely in English
Start Date: Ideally, the candidate will start in January 2015.
Education: PhD in related field completed within the past five years or soon to be completed is required.
